Summer Wrap-Up
Stories in progress, behind-the-scenes glimpses, and life at the writing desk
I hope you’ve had a wonderful summer. Ours was busy, exciting, and very much rooted in family life.
Our eldest got married to his beautiful bride on the banks of Loch Tay. Scotland at its very best. The weather had been wild for much of the weekend, with thunder, lightning, driving rain, and strong winds. But just as the ceremony was about to begin, the skies cleared, the sun broke through, and the loch sparkled. A truly unforgettable few days of celebrations, family, and stunning scenery. In the weeks since, I’ve been tucked away at my desk, scribbling, plotting, planning, and taking stock of my diary for the coming months and into 2026.
Wanda the Weary Witch - Picture Book for 3 - 7 years
Wanda was an absolute joy to write and, while she will be ready much earlier than planned, we are still aiming to launch next August, just in time for the Halloween fun.
This means I’ll be starting 2026 with Wanda’s character and cover reveal, sharing a first glimpse of her mischievous world and giving readers a taste of the magic and mischief to come.
Romantic Mysteries
I’m continuing to work on Amelia’s Home. Progress has been a little slower this year, as it’s been an unusually busy and full year outside of my writing. But it’s all part of the plan, as I’d already decided to wait and publish next year, which would allow me the time needed for the promotional events that I’m so fortunate to have follow new releases. In the meantime, I’m really pleased with Amelia’s story, and I can’t wait to share it with you in early 2026.
I’ve also started the next book in The Maren Bay Series and have already written twenty thousand words. It’s still early days, but I’m excited to see these characters develop and the story grow.
Life Behind the Desk
It’s been a busy and productive summer. Alongside my writing, I’ve contributed articles to several international publications and have been supporting my mentoring clients as they perfect their manuscripts and work towards publication.
My calendar for Book Week Scotland in November is full, with events scheduled with Waterstones, schools, and libraries across Scotland…my trusty Satnav will be working overtime.
It’s also nearing that time of year when The Fairy in the Kettle’s Christmas Wish makes its annual appearance, bringing a little festive magic to children around the world from October onwards.
‘The story is enchanting, mesmerising and delightfully told.’
‘Tait has truly created her own Christmastime myth which everyone can enjoy.’
‘Once again, Pauline Tait has given us a wonderful story of true friendship along with page after page of enrapturing illustrations.’
Thank you for following along, I’m looking forward to sharing more with you soon. In the meantime, take care.
Pauline xx
